The Danish cyclist secured his first win in the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg while Kevin Geniets displayed the best performance of a Luxembourgish rider.

Saturday saw the final stage of this year's Tour de Luxembourg. Riders completed 178.4 kilometres while cycling from Mersch to Limpertsberg in the capital.

Four riders led an attack out of the peloton early on: Pierre Roland, Joel Nicolau, Sander Armée, and Felix Gall. At times, the group managed to get an advance of about three minutes.

25 kilometers before the finish line, the leader group entered the Pabeierbierg (Paper Mountain) for a first time, the rest of the pack trailing two minutes. Nevertheless, the advance was not enough to escape the growing tempo of the peloton, which caught up with the leaders about 1.2 kilometers before the finish line.

In the final ascent of the Paberierbierg, team Groupama-FDJ took over the lead, which allowed Luxembourgish rider Kevin Geniets to make it to the front of the race. However, it was his team colleague Valentin Madouas who took the stage victory in the end. Geniets finished fourth.

Mattias Skjelmose Jensen came out on top of the Tour's general leaderboard, thus defending both the yellow and white jersey until the very end. Geniets finished as best Luxembourgish rider on rank five with a delay of 31 seconds.

Best climber was Joel Nicolau, while Matteo Trentin won the sprint classification.
