Charel Grethen came 21st in the semi-final of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, thus missing out on the final.

Unfortunately, Grethen was unable to recreate his performance from the qualifying run, which he finished after three minutes, 36 seconds, and 51 hundredths. In fact, that time would have ensured him not only a win in his leg of the semi-final, but also guaranteed qualification for the final.

Grethen crossed the finish line of the semi-final race after three minutes, 40 seconds, and 41 hundredths. He came eleventh in his leg and 21st out of 24 semi-final runners. Grethen thus missed out on the opportunity to run in the final race of the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

The best time of the entire semi-final round was three minutes, 33 seconds, and 68 hundredths.
