Grethen participated in the World Indoor Tour in Birmingham on Friday and finished the 1500m race as seventh while also setting a new national record.

Charel Grethen finished the race in 3 minutes, 37 seconds, and 38 hundredths. He thus beat the old Luxembourgish record, which he set himself, by 92 hundredths.

Grethen crossed the finish line in seventh and thus missed out on the podium. Abel Kipsang from Kenya won gold, while Spaniard Adel Mechaal and German Robert Farken took silver and bronze, respectively.
