The 45th edition was initially scheduled to take place last year, but had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
Runners can decide between 5.7 and 12 kilometre races. As every year, there will also be a 1 kilometre race for small children. A maximum of 2,000 runners, licensed or not, can participate in the Vollekslaf this year.
The event will be organised under the CovidCheck system, which means that runners have to be either vaccinated, recovered, or tested to participate.
Organisers also hope to render the event more environmentally friendly by separating waste more accurately and inviting people to come to Walferdange via public transport. People who arrive by train thus get a chance of winning a gym or spa membership at Pidal.
The ultimate goal of the organisers is to receive a so-called "Green Event Logo" for the Vollekslaf.
People who registered for the race before 20 September will get their runners' number via post, others will have to collect them. Regular participation prices still apply until 26 September, after that they will increase. The last possible moment to register is on Saturday evening.
As per tradition, the mascot of the race, called Walfy, will be a well-known person. This year, the honour goes to Charel Grethen, national champion over 1,500 metres.
