Thursday morning saw the official presentation of Luxembourg's Paralympic athletes at the Kirchberg rehabilitation centre.

Tom Habscheid will be the only Paralympian representing the Grand Duchy at this year's Games. He holds the world record in category 63 shotput and won silver at the European championship in June 2021.

A number of representatives from the Ministry of Sport were joined by the Paralympic and Olympic committees at the presentation, as well as others offering their support to Habscheid.

This year's summer Paralympics will kick off on 24 August in Tokyo, running until 5 September. This sixteenth edition of the Games will see 4,300 athletes from 160 nations competing for medals.

35-year-old Habscheid participated in the 2016 Games in Rio, coming seventh. His first competition at this year's Games will take place on 4 September. Luxembourg last won a medal in 1984.
