The Luxembourgish athlete finished a race in Huatulco, Mexico, as 19th, which gave him enough points to qualify for Tokyo.

The Sunday triathlon was the last official race where competitors could gather qualification points. After moderate results in past weeks, Zachäus kept his nerves and made use of the opportunity, scoring the final points he needed for the Olympic Games.

Bob Haller was the second Luxembourgish athlete competing in Mexico. Unfortunately, he forfeited the race due to health reasons.

Once the Olympic ticket has been officially registered, it will still be up to the Luxembourgish Triathlon Federation (FLTRI) to decide which athlete they will send to Tokyo to represent the Grand Duchy.
