MP Marc Goergen from the Piratepartei asked whether Rob Thillens had been replaced.

In a parliamentary question to the Minister of Sports, Marc Goergen wanted to know whether the position of "Commissioner to Physical Education and Sports" had been filled.

Dan Kersch confirmed in his reply that the post was still vacant and that the draft legislation was currently with the relevant parliamentary commission.

The previous sports commissioner, Rob Thillens, had stressed during an interview on RTL that the post should be occupied by a subject matter expert rather than a political advisor.

It is no secret that the position as laid out in the draft bill is tailored specifically to Laurent Deville, the current general coordinator in the Ministry of Sports. He does not, however, have a sports-specific education.
