Thursday's Europa League fixture between F91 Dudelange and Apoel Nicosia could be affected without substantial improvements to the pitch at the Josy Barthel Stadium.
F91 received the above warning from a UEFA delegate.
Club president Romain Schumacher confirmed the match could be under threat unless the pitch conditions were substantially improved. On Thursday, a request was made to the City of Luxembourg in order to ensure new turf could be laid down at the Route d'Arlon stadium. The improvements will be made this weekend and are expected to be completed by Monday.
Whether UEFA will give the match the green light, however, remains to be seen.
Schumacher told RTL it was not an option to play the match at the Virton or Kaiserslautern grounds.
If the pitch is not deemed acceptable, then F91 will have to pay half a million euros to UEFA as punishment.
