Stage 19 serves as the prelude to a historic double in the Tour de France. For the first time, the Tour de France will finish at Alpe d’Huez on two consecutive days. Over the 127.9-kilometre route from Gap to Alpe d’Huez, riders will tackle four classified climbs: Col Bayard, Col du Noyer, Col d’Ornon, and the iconic final ascent to Alpe d’Huez. In total, the peloton will have to conquer 3,500 metres of elevation gain. The pace is expected to be high right from the start, as every rider dreams of adding their name to the prestigious Alpe d’Huez roll of honour. Twenty years ago, it was Frank Schleck who won this stage.
