Stage eight is expected to provide another opportunity for the sprinters. Riders face a 180-kilometre route from Périgueux to Bergerac, with just 1,150 metres of climbing on the agenda.
Saturday's stage features only two Category 4 climbs, both positioned far enough from the finish to have little bearing on the outcome. Although the route includes a number of short rises, the sprinters' teams are likely to have a clear objective: keep the breakaway under control and deliver their fast men into the perfect position for the final sprint.
