Dudelange kicked off the third round of Europa League qualifications with a 3-1 victory on Thursday evening.

The southern team took to the pitch on Thursday evening at Stade Josy Barthel in front of 1,250 spectators.

Dominik Stolz managed a hat-trick, scoring in the 28th, 30th and 76th minutes. Kalju Nõmme’s goal came from Sander Puri shortly before the break.

Should the Luxembourgish champions be successful in the next game against Kalju, they will face either Ararat from Armenia, or the Georgian team Saburtalo in the next round. The second game in this round will be on 13 August in Estonia, at 6pm.

F91 Dudelange - Kalju Nõmme 3:1

Dudelange struggled initially against Kalju’s height advantage, with players such as Deniss Tjakpin at almost 2 metres tall. However, F91 settled after the first 15 minutes, employing Ryan Klapp’s speed, and Danel Sinani and Dominik Stolz’s creative play to great effect.

Stolz opened the scoring in the 28th minute, then scored a header just two minutes later. Despite a number of further chances for F91, the Estonian team clawed one back in the 41st minute through Sander Puri.

The Luxembourg team started the second half with renewed vigour, pushing for a third goal. German player Stolz completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with a long distance shot, thus assuring the win. Dudelange will travel to Estonia next week with a 2 goal advantage.
