The European Road Cycling Championships are taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 2 to 7 October with Luxembourg represented by a large delegation.

In the women's events, Nina Berton and Marie Schreiber will line up in both the time trial and the road race.

The men selected by the Luxembourg Cycling Federation (FSCL) are Alex Kirsch, Mathieu Kockelmann, Mats Wenzel and Kevin Geniets, with Kirsch and Kockelmann also taking part in the time trial.

Luxembourg is also represented in the U23 (Espoir) and junior categories.

The Luxembourg team is also entered in the mixed relay. A total of 14 races are being held in Slovenia, with around 800 athletes from more than 50 nations taking part.

The toughest part of the course is the climb up Možjanca, which could end up being the most decisive portion of the race.

After crashing at the Vuelta, Tadej Pogačar had announced the end of his season, though brief hopes arose last week that he might still line up on home soil. In the end though, those plans were shelved.

The U23 races kicked things off on Friday, followed by the awarding of medals for junior men and elite women on Saturday 3 October. The championship will wrap up on 7 October with the time trial events.
