Aside from playing the hosts of the next World Cup in a friendly match, two further matches brought some movement in Luxembourg's qualifying group.

The Qatari team was drawn to play in group A of the World Cup qualifiers, the same as Luxembourg. They play the same as any team, but their games are not taken into account in the results table.

Azerbaijan faced Portugal at 6pm on Tuesday. Despite missing their star Ronaldo, they easily beat their opponent, leading 2:0 after just over half an hour, following goals from Bernardo Silva (26') and André Silva (31'). Diogo Jota sealed the deal at minute 75.

The second ever match at Luxembourg's new national stadium kicked off at 8.45pm. The Red Lions took the lead after a goal from Borges Sanches around half an hour in, but Elami equalized for Qatar just before half time. Despite almost 60 percent ball possession and around 10 chances to score, Luxembourg failed bring home the win.

The last match in the group saw Ireland welcoming Serbia. The away team took the lead after 21 minutes with a goal from Milinkovic-Savic. For a long time it looked like they might win the game, but with own goal from Milenkovic at minute 87, Ireland caught up.

This puts Portugal in the lead with 13 points, followed by Serbia with 11 points. Luxembourg comes third with six points, but one less game, and Ireland has two points from six matches. Azerbaijan is last with a single point.
