Two cyclists from Luxembourg, namely Michel Ries (Trek Segafredo) and Ivan Centrone (Roubaix Lille Métropole), are also taking part in this year’s Tour de l’Ain.

The first race took the cyclists 139.5 km from Montréal-la-cluse to Ceyzériat. Ivan Centrone was able to get ahead alongside four other participants and collected points for the ranking of best climber with every summit he reached. Centrone also took the lead of that ranking after this race.

However, the group of five was not far enough ahead of the other cyclists to fight for the win amongst themselves. 32 minutes before the finish line, they only had a one minute lead.

At the end it was Andrea Bagioli from Deceuninck Quick-Step who was able to take the win, followed by Primož Roglič from Jumbo-Visa and Stephan Bissegger from Team Switzerland.

The Tour d’Ail will go on until Sunday.
