New prospects after cancellationGames of the Small States of Europe could be postponed to 2025

News broke on Tuesday that the Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra, scheduled for the coming year, have been cancelled.

The decision was based on athletic, but also economic considerations. Marc Theisen, secretary general of the Games and former head of the Luxembourgish Olympic association COSL, laid out his ideas on how the event could be rescheduled for the year 2025. This date remains unfixed however. Theisen elaborates:

“It might be too early to provide an explicit date. The discussions I had with the president of Andorra were all informal. The country could host the Games anew in the year 2025, since both previous occasions have already been allocated: Malta 2023 and Monaco 2027. I don’t believe will experience a shortage of candidates in the following years.”
