After the announcement that Jungels would not compete, further bad news for Luxembourg cycling came on Tuesday: neither Jempy Drucker nor Alex Kirsch will be at the start of the Tour de France 2021.

Team director, Cédric Vasseur, had stated in February that Cofidis would select Jempy Drucker for the Grande Boucle, the Luxembourg cyclist, second in the national standings, will also not be at the start in Brest.

Last Thursday, Cofidis gave the name of the first six riders selected for the Tour and the French team announced the last two on Tuesday.

Jempy Drucker held out hope until the last moment, but he is not one of the selected riders to compete for a jersey in this year’s tour.

At Trek Segafredo too, the decision came very late. Alex Kirsch only learned on Monday that he was not selected in the ten of riders who will participate in TDF 2021.
