The 24-year-old from Luxembourg will participate in his first race since the beginning of the pandemic on the weekend of 25 July in Navara, Spain.
The last few months have not made it easy to prepare adequately, Leesch regrets: “I was unable to train until two weeks ago, when the boarders opened up again. Unfortunately, we do not have a race track here in Luxembourg. I mostly kept myself in shape with cycling and physical preparation at home.”
Racing has also taken a financial hit from the corona crisis:
“Many teams are in jeopardy since sponsors had to withdraw their funding. Flights are more difficult to get these days, which also makes it harder to order mechanical parts. I personally also lost sponsors, but I am still confident that I will find a feasible solution.”
Leesch’s highlight of the season will be a 24-hour race in Le Mans in August.
