Charel Grethen secured first place at the meeting in Bellinzona, setting a new meeting record at the same time. He ran the 1,500 meters in 3:35:48 - nearly 3.5 seconds behind his own record of 3:32:86 set in Tokyo on 5 August this year.

Filip Sasinek from the Czech Republic came in second, and the Italian Pietro Arese took third place.
