Few bands capture the frustrations and absurdities of modern Britain quite like Sleaford Mods.
The Nottingham duo of Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn have built their reputation on a deceptively simple formula: Williamson's confrontational, often darkly funny spoken-word delivery over Fearn's stripped-back basslines and hypnotic electronic beats.
Their music takes aim at everything from class inequality and austerity to politics and everyday life in Britain, delivered with an anger and humour that has helped establish them as one of the country's most distinctive alternative acts.
Along the way, they've become an important influence on a new generation of British punk and post-punk bands, including IDLES and Shame.
Their latest album, The Demise of Planet X, sees Sleaford Mods expanding their sound without abandoning the raw approach that made their name.
The record features contributions from an unexpected collection of guests, including Gwendoline Christie, best known for her acting work, alongside musicians Aldous Harding and Sue Tompkins.
It's a broader musical palette for a band whose greatest strength has always been their ability to make so much noise with so little.
The anger, humour and sharp observations remain firmly intact, but the new material introduces different textures and ideas into the duo's unmistakable sound.
On stage, Sleaford Mods keep things just as stripped back.
There's no traditional backing band. Instead, Fearn handles the beats and basslines while Williamson prowls the stage, delivering his lyrics with a mixture of fury, sarcasm and relentless energy.
It's an unusual setup, but one that has earned them a reputation as a formidable live act, turning minimalist electronic arrangements into something that feels every bit as intense as a full punk band.
Luxembourg's own DJ Keta, also known as Sébastien Vécrin, will get things started at Rockhal.
A familiar name on the country's alternative electronic scene, Keta's musical journey has taken him from muddy teknivals and underground clubs to supporting the likes of Gesaffelstein, 2manydjs and The Soft Moon.
His sets draw on industrial music, EBM and harder-edged electronic sounds, making him a particularly fitting choice to warm up the crowd for Sleaford Mods.
