Casting Lux

Nilton Martins, a Luxembourgish actor and casting director and one of the founders of Casting Lux. Nilton’s own journey into acting began while he was studying for his bachelor’s degree, that first taste of the stage led him to Paris, where he trained in theatre and film at EICAR, the École internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation. Over three intensive years, he acted in more than 30 short films and learned the craft from both sides of the camera.

After returning to Luxembourg, Nilton quickly became involved in a wide range of projects, from theatre to cinema. Audiences may recognise him from Andy Bausch’s Trouble No More or from Antoine Charreyron’s The Prodigies. Alongside his acting career, he also saw a gap in the local industry so In 2017, together with Sandrine Brasseur, Osanna Samuel and Tom Faber, he co-founded Casting Lux.

During the interview, Nilton explained how Casting Lux works with projects across film, television, advertising and events, and why no previous acting experience is needed to sign up. One of their core goals is to improve the overall quality of casting in the entertainment industry while making it easier for everyday people, emerging talents and established professionals to connect with Luxembourg’s creative scene.

Nilton also shared details of a current casting call for an upcoming short film titled As Things Were, produced by Encore Luxembourg and directed by Nuri Moseinco. The film will be shot in Luxembourg in May 2026, and they are looking for a native English speaking boy aged between 6 and 13 who lives in Luxembourg. No theatre or film experience is required. Parents who are interested are invited to send their child’s name, age and height, two or three recent photos, a short presentation video in English of up to one minute, and a contact phone number by email to info@castinglux.com.

FEST.LU: The Festival of English-Language School Theatre

Also joining in studio were theatre director Tony Kingston and student actor Cailin Reiff to talk about the fifth edition of FEST, the Festival of English Language School Theatre. Founded in 2018 and held every second year, FEST brings together secondary schools from across Luxembourg, with each school performing a one act play in English.
Tony spoke about why FEST matters, how it gives young people the chance to perform for a real public audience, to meet students from other schools and for audiences, it offers a rare opportunity to discover the depth of acting talent that exists in schools across the Grand Duchy. Cailin shared what acting has meant for her personally, describing how being on stage has helped build confidence, communication skills and a stronger sense of self.

This edition of FEST will take place on February 27th and 28th and marks a few important firsts. The festival is moving into a more intimate studio setting at the Rotondes Black Box Studio, bringing actors and audiences closer together and encouraging a more immediate performance style. It is also the first time FEST is operating under the Green Events label, underlining a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Across the festival, eight different schools will present a wide range of plays, from comedies and family stories to more challenging social dramas. Regular participants such as St George’s International School, ISL, Lycée Michel Lucius, Lënster Lycée in Junglinster, Lycée Michel-Rodange and European School Luxembourg I & II are back and will be joined by first time participants Lycée Vauban. Tickets are on sale now, and full programme details are available on the FEST website.
