Drawing on more musical genres than bears recounting in a concert announcement article, The Sophs have somehow focused a wide variety of inspirations into their debut album, GOLDSTAR. There’s pop-punk moments, flamenco moments, moments of sweet guitar ballads and distorted riffing. And yet their sound is cohesive, clever, totally distinct.
“They arrived out of the great blue yonder,” Rough Trade co-founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee said of the six-piece – compelling them to sign The Sophs as soon as possible.
“It’s rare that a demo that arrives in the post sets your heart racing and sends you off on a quest to track down its sender,” the pair further explained. “But that’s what happened when we listened to the music sent to us by Ethan Ramon,” The Sophs’ frontman and lead singer.
Indeed, it seems as if the Sophs are on the cusp of greatness, their new LP already being heralded for its creativity and deft genre-blending. Luxembourgish audiences can thus stay ahead of the curve before The Sophs start headlining festivals in the years to come.
As part of their 2026 European tour, The Sophs will be playing at Rockhal on Thursday, 18 June, it’s a unique chance to catch the future arena-fillers whilst their still riding the high of their first abum release.
Tickets for their show are now available on Rockhal’s website – currently going for a mere €23,10. A steal, really.
