Blast from the pastWWII aircraft bomb discovered and disarmed on Wednesday in Trier, Germany

RTL Today
The 250 kg bomb from the Second World War was discovered three metres underground by construction workers on Wednesday morning.

The discovery was made near the municipal theatre of Trier. Since the area saw heavy bombardments from Allied Forces in December 1944, authorities decided to scan the area for potential bombs ahead of construction work. And, out of all the potential locations for undetonated bombs, one actually showed traces of such a dangerous remnant.

Out of precaution, authorities decided to evacuate buildings in a 300-metre radius, which affected about 2,300 people from 1,700 households. Experts managed to successfully disarm the aircraft bomb by 8.30pm.
