The Mainz ministry of health was informed of the case on Tuesday evening, according to information from Volksfreund.de.

Initial medical reports suggest that a thrombosis of the cerebral veins was found in the woman. There is no immediate danger to life, said the minister in Mainz.

It has not yet been clarified whether there is a direct connection with the vaccination.

According to an article on Volksfreund.de, the woman was vaccinated with the vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer AstraZeneca in early March.

In Germany, the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), which is responsible for vaccine safety, recommended suspending vaccinations with Astrazeneca.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, a total of eight cases of thrombosis (blood clots) in the cerebral veins thought to be in connection with patients who have received the vaccination were reported in Germany by Tuesday evening.

According to Bätzing-Lichtenthäler, the Trier incident is likely the ninth.

“It is not yet possible to assess whether the vaccination is actually the cause. The affected person is in a clinic for treatment,” said Bätzing-Lichtenthäler via the Rheinland-Pfalz Corona website. “It is important to me that all people are informed as transparently and comprehensively as possible about the vaccines. This also includes checking for potentially serious side effects - even if they only occur very rarely,” the minister continued.
