An explosion rocked a chemical plang in an industrial zone near Venice earlier this Friday. The explosion and blaze injured two works and belched clouds of smoke into the sky.
Firefighters warned of a possible spread of chemicals into the surrounding areas.
The authorities urged Venetians to stay indoors. The residents of Marghera were meanwhile urged to apply wet towels around closed windows.
