A microlight crashed into the garden of an uninhabited property in Buhl-Lorraine in the Moselle region on Sunday evening.
According to colleagues from the Republican Lorrain, neighbours heard an explosion before seeing the aircraft crash to the ground.
The pilot, originally from Alsace, was around fifty years old. He could not be revived despite the efforts of rescue teams.
