The victim, still conscious, had managed to whisper “speed dating. Rendez-vous C.” to emergency services before eventually being taken to hospital.

The two arrested individuals have confessed, Nancy’s prosecutor’s François Pérain told AFP. The two suspects “claimed to have formed this criminal project for several weeks following a gang rape” that the teenager said she suffered “a month ago” and “in which the victim would have participated,” said the prosecutor.

The couple had set up a real ambush. While the girl was on her way to the victim’s house, her friend had remained hidden outside. She had left the verandah door open. He admitted that he had come from behind and machete-battered the victim, but the victim, despite being seriously injured, managed to escape.

During her hearing, the adolescent explained that she actually wanted revenge on the victim, not because he had participated in the rape of which she was allegedly the victim, but because he had described her as an “easy” girl and had given her telephone number to other men, who then contacted her.

The searches led to the recovery of the machete and the clothes worn by the victim. Speaking from the Nancy University Hospital, the man denied any involvement in the rape.

A separate procedure has been opened to determine whether this rape, for which no complaint has been filed, is indeed real.

A warrant of committal was requested against the defendants who were unknown to the judicial services. At the end of the afternoon, they were awaiting the decisions of the liberty and detention judge.
