In Luxembourg

• Luxembourg has recorded another 6 cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 3,894. 102 people have died of the virus as of this Tuesday, up by one from Monday.

• Luxair announced on its website that flights are expected to resume on 1 June. LuxairTours flights will not resume until 13 June.

• Caritas published a statement on Tuesday morning confirming that an increased number of people contacted the humanitarian organisation to request financial help in the wake of coronavirus. The majority of requests came from individuals who, before the crisis, mainly relied on occasional odd jobs or temporary work.

• Luxembourg has carried out 3,750 tests in retirement homes. 10 elderly citizens tested positive, as did nine staff members. Neither group showed coronavirus-related symptoms.

• The state has employed 1,489 people as part of the national health reserve by 5 May 2020. The Minister of Health explained that this reserve was replenished in two ways, using essential health professionals without permanent roles as well as medical students and pupils from the LTPS secondary school.

• A railway station worker in Britain died from COVID-19 last month after she was spat at and coughed over by someone claiming to have the virus, her trade union said Tuesday.

• Spain is to restrict arrivals from Europe’s Schengen zone and impose a mandatory 14-day quarantine period on all travellers to avoid importing new virus cases. Both measures come into effect on Friday and will remain in force until May 24 when the state of emergency expires -- or beyond if the measure is extended, the official government bulletin said.
• Wuhan plans to conduct coronavirus tests on the Chinese city’s entire population after new cases emerged for the first time in weeks in the cradle of the global pandemic, state media reported Tuesday.
