The victim, 20, was riding a scooter on a busy road between Thaon-les-Vosges in Igney at around 5.30am on 14 July, when he was hit by an oncoming car. Reports say he died instantly.
His friend, who was accompanying him on a bicycle, escaped unscathed but was treated for shock.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident, which took place just before the bridge at Igney. The reasons for the fatal collision are unknown. The car’s driver and sole occupant remained at the scene when authorities arrived.
