Several pedestrians suffered injuries, some injured critically, after the motorcyclist lost control over his bike. The bars and restaurants in the street were all crowded at that point.
According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the motorcyclist attempted to ride his vehicle on one wheel, before crashing into a car, which propelled his bike forward and into several bystanders. While details are still emerging at this point, it is known that two women suffered critical injuries. The motorcyclist was also brought to the hospital.
François Grosdidier, mayor of Metz, voiced his anger on social media over the reckless incident: “The result of this carelessness and stupidity, six people injured, with two in critical condition.”
According to Mayor Grosdidier, a 21-year-old woman may lose the ability to walk following the incident. The responsible motorcyclist is allegedly a young resident of neighbouring commune Woippy.
