
Several people were killed in a fire at a multi-story residential building in Antwerp, Belgium, on Wednesday, with numerous people seriously injured, according to a police spokesperson. As of midday, the fire had not yet been brought under control.
According to reports by the Belgian television broadcaster VRT, firefighters are still searching for additional victims. More than 200 people are believed to live in the building, and many were evacuated after suffering smoke inhalation.
Footage broadcast by VRT showed thick black smoke billowing from the building's balconies.
