A team of staff were heading home after a mass vaccination drive in Josephine County, Oregon, USA, when a snowstorm meant they were unable to reach the final six recipients due to a road closure.
Rather than let the doses go to waste, however, the team approached other drivers stranded on the same stretch of road to offer them the vaccine, administering the jabs in the midst of the storm. Fortunately, they were able to make use of all the remaining doses before they expired.
Public Health director Mike Weber said it was one of the “coolest” operations he had ever participated in. The majority of drivers declined the jab, however, despite an ambulance and crew being present, but six motorists gratefully accepted the opportunity.
