According to various local media, staff were fed up with customers disregarding the social distancing measures at the bar.
Star Inn landlord Johnny McFadden confirmed that the fence had been installed to get customers to respect the precautionary guidelines. He said: “Before the fence, people were not following social-distancing and were doing as they pleased, but now people take heed to the guidance around social distancing.” He concluded that “it’s for everyone’s benefit.”
The fence is usually turned off but McFadden stressed that it can be turned on when necessary.
According to Cornwalllive, a number of drunken customers confirmed that they had been electrocuted by the fence last weekend. Pictures of the fence have gone viral on social media.
