Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died on Friday 9 April at the age of 99.
The United Kingdom held a national minute of silence at 15:00 BST (16:00 Luxembourg time) as the funeral began.
There was also a funeral procession beginning at 15:45 Luxembourg time.
The Duke of Edinburgh was a revered figure in the UK, having married Elizabeth in 1947.
