Along with the prefect of Moselle, the authorities stopped 134 vehicles to check whether their occupants had carried out a PCR test before entering France. A negative PCR test dated less than 72 hours is mandatory for all travellers arriving in France as of late January.

“This obligation concerns all modes of travel (arrival by road, rail, air or sea)” specifies the French Interior Ministry. Cross-border workers are not affected by the measure.

In total, the prefecture announced that it had checked the documents of 337 people at exit 43 of Elange, in the direction of Luxembourg-Thionville. The checks led to the 13 fines.
