Don't wash your car just yet if you are planning to head across the border, as Saharan sand is again due to pass through the Grand Est.

The avid reader will recall that we were last visited by Saharan sand just a few months ago, in March of this year. Meteolux have not, as yet, issued a notice that the sand will make its way across our border this time, however.

This episode is expected to be less severe than that of last spring, but will nonetheless see the sky take on a yellow hue as cars and window sills are covered in a thin film of dust. It is expected to last at least until Monday.

The hot Saharan air is partly responsible for the relatively heatwave we have experienced over the last few weeks, and in this final stage will be accompanied by sand particles. Fortunately, according to French weather forecaster Atmo Grand Est, the air quality is not expected to be significantly downgraded nor exceed alert thresholds.
