Monday's update for the region most affected by the virus in France showed a small improvement as the number of deaths dropped in comparison to the previous day. However, authorities still urge caution despite the new figures.

According to the latest figures published by Public Health France on Monday, 2,104 patients have died due to Covid-19 in the Grand Est since 1 March, with 41 new deaths in 24 hours.

On Sunday, the region had 56 new deaths. Although the number of deaths has decreased, the evolution of the epidemic remains unstable.

4,928 people have now been hospitalised in the region, with 41 patients admitted in the last 24 hours compared to 46 on Sunday.

The number of people discharged from hospital has also increased, with 63 people returning home on Monday, compared to 144 on Sunday, bringing the total to 4,788. The number of patients in intensive care increased by 2 to 880 on Monday.
