More than two months after a student was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Trier, authorities say there are still no new findings regarding the suspect’s motive. The Trier public prosecutor’s office confirmed to the German Press Agency (DPA) that the investigation is ongoing and that evidence is still being evaluated.
The suspected attacker is a 22-year-old Afghan national who, for reasons that remain unclear, allegedly stabbed a young student in Petrisberg. The victim died at the scene. According to investigators, the two men are not believed to have known each other.
Since the attack, the suspect has been detained in a secure forensic psychiatric institution.
