
The reasoning behind this decision is that five-day weeks are simply too tiring for children. Grosdidier hopes to improve children’s receptiveness.
The new mayor emphasises the majority of parents and teachers being in favour when being asked. Elected on 28 June, it would be too rushed to reorganise schools by 1 September. He stresses that families organised around five-day working weeks should not be penalised, and will be offered assistance.
In terms of the syllabus and educational plan, he will consult with the 33 elementary and 35 nursery schools that represent 9,600 students.
