Authorities underlined that the regulation will only apply to a certain perimeter within the city centre from 11am to 2am. The rule is in effect everyday, children below the age of 11 being exempt. The zone in question includes the place Thiers, the place Stanislas, the rue Saint-Jean, and the place de la Carrière.

Masks will also be mandatory in the entire city for groups larger than 10 people. Not affected are athletic and artistic activities, or the markets.

Violations of the rule will be punished with fines of up to €135.
