Göransson recruited some of his neighbours to help put the signs up, leaving little doubt as to exactly what the speed limit is. Speaking to Swedish national broadcaster SVT, he said that cars driving through the town largely ignore the limit, which has led to several cats being run over.

However, the initiative did not last long. Just two days after putting the signs up, workers from the Swedish road authority came and took them down, as they lacked authorisation. Göransson says that he understands why they were taken down, but says it is a shame as the area had never been so quiet.
