
A 53-year-old man died following the explosion of the ethanol-fuelled outdoor heater during the party.
The man, who was rushed to a specialist clinic on Friday evening, died there on Sunday night, according to Höxter police. In addition to the deceased, seven other people were injured in the explosion.
A sudden jet of flame reportedly engulfed the individuals, a police officer told Der Spiegel.
Another man, aged 56, was also in critical condition and is being treated in a specialist clinic. A 63-year-old man sustained serious injuries, while two other men and three women, aged between 52 and 61, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The exact cause of the explosion is currently under investigation, the police added. Emergency counsellors were also deployed at the scene.
