The man first confided the deed to his personal physician on Friday evening. The prosecutor’s office from Nancy has now communicated that the murder took place the previous Sunday.
The doctor in question alerted the gendarmerie after being told about the murder. When the officers arrived at the Tucquegnieux home, they discovered the inanimate body of the woman, who visibly died of strangulation. Prosecutor Stéphane Javet confirmed that an autopsy will take place nevertheless.
Placed under arrest, the culprit recognised his wrongdoing. The 50-year-old will most likely be charged with “voluntary homicide” of his partner.
In 2020, 90 women were killed by their partners or ex-partners across France. This means that the number is currently at its lowest since the beginning of records 15 years ago.
