The blaze reportedly started in the clubhouse of the “Schützenbruderschaft St. Sebastianus,” a hunting club, though the cause remains unclear. The building is located deep in the Mattheiser forest, far from any residential areas.
Around 100 emergency personnel from the fire department and police were on site on Monday afternoon. Firefighting efforts have been complicated by difficult access and limited water supply. No injuries have been reported.
Authorities warn that the risk of wildfires is heightened due to the recent stretch of dry weather.
