What's in a name?Indian parents name newborn twins Corona and Covid

RTL Today
The twins - a boy and a girl - were born after India imposed the nationwide lockdown to prevent the spreading of coronavirus.

The siblings were worn on 27 March in the Indian state of Chhattisgarth during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

The new parents told news agency Press Trust of India that “the delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, my husband and I wanted to make the day memorable.”

The couple consequently decided to name the twins Covid and Corona. The 27-year-old mother explained that, even though the virus was “dangerous,” it also raised awareness about sanitation and hygiene.
