Around 50 boats are attempting to bring aid supplies to the Gaza Strip by sea.

A group of pro-Palestinian activists has once again set off from Sicily with several boats heading towards the Gaza Strip. The so-called Global Sumud Flotilla mission consists of more than 50 boats carrying aid supplies for the enclave.

The official aim is to break through the Israeli naval blockade and create a humanitarian corridor in the eastern Mediterranean. Israel has already stated that it will not allow this to happen. Three Luxembourg nationals are also taking part in the mission.
