A Dutch girl was so fed up with having to join her parents to a furniture store that she fought back by sticking a note to the back of the car with the words: "Help, I've been kidnapped".

The note was taken very seriously by a sharp-eyed road user, who immediately informed police. Within minutes, several units brought the car to a standstill near Lelystad in the north of the Netherlands.

But when police confronted the drivers they learned that the kidnapping allegations were not true, and it was merely two parents and their grumpy daughter going for a day trip to a furniture store.

“After a good conversation and left with an impressive experience, the family was able to continue on their way,” police wrote on their Facebook page. The family was not fined.

It’s unclear whether they all still continued to the store.
