German police have arrested a 40-year-old Romanian national wanted on four separate arrest warrants during a routine border check.

The individual was apprehended while on a bus travelling from Belgium to Germany. They were wanted by the public prosecutor’s office of Frankfurt-am-Main and Arnsberg on charges including insult, driving without a licence, involvment in organised crime, and violations of asylum law.

Due to prior convictions resulting in rulings between 2014 and 2022, the individual had been banned from entering Germany until April 2027. Despite this prohibition, they attempted to re-enter the country.

Unable to pay an imposed fine of €2,640, the person was taken into custody to serve a 76-day prison sentence. Authorities stated that following the completion of this sentence, the individual will be deported from Germany.

*Correction: An initial report from the German Federal Police stated the bus originated in Luxembourg. This has been updated to reflect the correct point of departure as Belgium.
