Headmaster Armin Huber, speaking to the Trier press, noted that the school had informed the health authority of a pupil at the school testing positive Covid-19. The entire class was sent home and must follow testing protocols.
“The health board will now prepare tests for the pupils of the class, the teachers and other close contacts in the school and family environment,” Huber said. “These tests, unless [students] develop symptoms of a disease, are expected to take place on Friday, according to the recommendations set by the Robert Koch Institute. The health board is in contact with the families of the pupils and with the teachers concerned,” the headteacher continued.
On Wednesday, a total of four other Covid-19 infections were reported to the Trier-Saarburg Health Department – one in the city of Trier, and three in the district.
Authorities also confirmed that one patient receiving hospital treatment after contracting the virus has died. This is now the 13th fatality associated with coronavirus infection.
Currently, 23 people are considered Covid-19 positive, 11 in the district and 12 in the city of Trier.
