France comfortably beat China 90-61 on Thursday to move into the semi-finals of the women's Basketball World Cup.

The French remain on course to meet the country that denied them Olympic gold in 2024, the United States, in the final.

WNBA star Xu Han's 21 points were not enough for the Chinese to contend with a superior French team in Berlin.

Zhang Ziyu, China's towering 2.23 metre (7ft 4in) teenage centre, played 18 minutes of the game and scored seven points, but she has shown in this tournament that she has a bright future.

Janelle Salaun and Marine Johannes both scored 15 points for the French, who will meet the winner of the quarter-final later Thursday between Germany and Belgium.

Earlier, the USA thrashed Hungary 108-56 to reach the last four where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Australia.
