Four individuals were reported to climb over a barrier and jump off the 158 meter Hochmoselbrücke (literally translated as High Moselle Bridge) with a parachute on Sunday evening around 7pm.

The four male individuals were later seen below the bridge, where they had parked a getaway car, but were caught by police officers from Bernkastel-Kues, German news portal Lokalo reported.

Basejumpers jump off low-altitude objects (BASE stands for building, antenna, span and earth (cliff) with a parachute, which they deploy last-minute to safely descend to the ground.

Basejumpers have received fines of several thousand euros in the past.
